Blood Reign

We brought a taste of Cyprus to Scotland in the form of Commandaria, the oldest named wine in the world. King Richard the Lionheart himself proclaimed it as “the wine of kings and the king of wines”.

And this is how “Blood Reign”, a 7% ABV, Barrel-Aged Flanders Red Sour came into existence. Mature stock beer was aged in red wine barrels soaked with Commandaria, and blended with young stock beer aged in stainless steel. The two were then blended together, fermented and conditioned on dried figs.

Feast upon this noble banquet of a beer, rich with a complex vinous character and notes of stewed plums, figs, dates and balsamic vinegar.
