Legacy of Sin

Flames engulf the house of God. The walls around me crack like the bones of dying sinners. Yet my flock still congregates before my pulpit as they wait for my revelation.
And through a piercing beam of light on my revolver, the revelation has come to me. The Lord tore open the veil of heaven. He showed me the future that is in store.
I saw a child wandering the frontier alone, while carrion crows circle above him. Marked from birth by suffering and forged by the cruelty of this world, I saw him become a man who walked untouched through injustice, loss, grief and vengeance.
And then he showed me his face. My own blood. My legacy.
When his tribulations end, the light in his eyes will be extinguished. He will descend into Hell itself and return as judgement upon mankind.
I am not the one who was chosen to save this world.
I was chosen to declare its reckoning.
You might call me insane for setting fire to my church, but its old foundations must crumble so that the age of divine justice shall come forth. Those who have strayed too far from the path shall burn with it.
My son will walk through the flames unscathed. And the Devil himself will know his name.
